I’m very motivated to find out whether there’s an appetite for a co-working space in Yarm high street and whether it’s a financially viable project.
For that reason I’ve decided to launch a crowdfunder this September 2019 to help me gauge the market and cover initial costs.
For such a new type of business model, and such a new offer for Yarm, I need the backing of the crowd behind me to make sure it’s something that a) people want and that b) I can keep going in the long term for all of us.
I’m convinced that remote working, flexible working, distributed teams and other alternative workspaces are the future. Some larger companies are starting to understand that people function best when they’re in a healthy environment.
Co-working spaces contribute to well-being by mitigating some of the potential loneliness and isolation of those of us who work from home, as well as providing advantages of shared resources, networking and collaboration within the space.
My vision for it is modern, clean, cool, digital, and accessible as well as being neurodiverse friendly (no buzzing neon strip lighting…) There’ll be quiet spaces and chat/music spaces; places to make a phone or Skype call in privacy.
These are just some very initial thoughts – much more to come!
